Reminders

School Lunches
Please don't forget to place your child's order for lunch through ParentPay by 8:00 am on the day. To avoid missing the deadline, we recommend that you order your child’s lunches well in advance - you can cancel or amend your orders up until 8:00 am on the day too.

Last Day of Term
Friday 19th December is the last day of term. It is a mufti day and the children may wear their own clothes to school - but no football kits please! School will close early on this day, and we are staggering dismissal to ensure the children can be collected promptly. Nursery & Reception will be dismissed at 1:20 pm; Years 1 & 2 at 1:25 pm, and Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 at 1:30 pm. Tree Tops will run just one full session from 1:30– 4:30 pm and this can be booked through ParentPay as normal.

Parent Volunteers
If you regularly help in the classroom, please check with your class teacher to confirm if you are needed at school next week. Timetables tend to change in the last week of term, especially at this festive time of year! Thank you for your continuing support – it is greatly appreciated by all the staff and the children you work with.

Goodbye and Good Luck

At the end of this term we say goodbye to Martin and Sally Pantling and wish them all the very best on their retirement. Martin has taken care of us, and the school site, for nearly 25 years! Sally has been the Deputy Manager of Tree Tops for over 6 years, helping it grow from a small after school club to the fantastic provision it is today. Martin and Sally will both be greatly missed by the children, parents and staff.

Christmas PartyFestive Fern Hill!

The children will have their class Christmas parties on Thursday 18th December. It is a mufti day and the children may wear party clothes to school. Thank you so much to all the Class Reps who will be co-ordinating food donations and parent helpers for the parties. Please may we remind you that we are a nut-free school and to be mindful of any food allergies or dietary requirements in your class. There will be NO school lunches served on this day – the kitchen will be providing sandwiches and buffet food and the children will have a party lunch together in their classrooms. During the day, Nursery and Reception will enjoy a magic show while children in Year 1 through to Year 6 will watch a special performance of the pantomime Sleeping Beauty. Thank you so much to the PSA for funding this.

Book of the Week

Kirsty Applebaum‘The Strange Disappearance of Imogen Good’ by Kirsty Applebaum

When Fran is sent to stay with her Uncle and Aunt while her parents are away on a business trip, the thing she is least looking forward to is having to spend time with her annoying cousin, Imogen. But when she arrives Imogen is not there and everyone seems to have forgotten that she exists at all. It has something to do with the mysterious hidden garden and sinister statues at Stillness Hall so she teams up with Imogen's friend Bex to investigate - even though Bex can't remember Imogen either!

The story is constructed with fairy tale-style inserts that explain the origin of the curse in between the chapters of Fran's narrative. This is an engaging standalone, MG fantasy - perfect for Upper KS2.
